Employers Events
Introduction
Shape hosts a regular series of informal Access Forums. These bring employers from across the creative industries together to share best practice and learn about employing deaf and disabled practitioners.
The free sessions counter some perceptions and assumptions through presentations as well as shared networking, highlighting both advantages and ways to overcome potential difficulties.
September 2008 (date tbc)
This relaxed summer’s evening of speeches and Q and A is designed to make the processes of employing deaf and disabled people easy to understand. Shape and some inspiring guest speakers will take you through the sometimes confusing legalities and into the realisation that this area of HR shouldn’t be an intimidating or difficult process.
It is easy to put provisions in place to ensure everyone has access to employment, and Shape is funded to help you do so! So come and enjoy the National Theatre’s stunning river views, share an evening with Shape and ensure you are up to date with your disability policies, or take the first steps towards your, newly mandatory, Disability Action Plan.
Previous speakers at other employers events include: David W. Morris, Senior Policy Adviser to the Mayor of London (Disability); Jenny Sealey, Artistic Director of Graeae; and Agnes Fletcher, Policy and Communications Director of the Disability Rights Commission.
Attendance is free.
Contact the Link Up team now to be notified when September’s event is confirmed.
Enough informality to allow open discussion and enough structure to enable dissemination of information vital to employers in the creative sector.
