Eligibility / FAQs

Who is eligible?

You can apply to become involved in the programme if you:

  • are based in London, and
  • are deaf or disabled

What do we mean by 'involved in the arts' and 'creative industries'?

These are intentionally very broad terms. You can be a practicing artist in any medium - visual arts, theatre, dance, literature, digital, design, film, craft etc. You might not be a practicing artist but are employed in the arts and creative industries in another way, such as administration, curating, production, training etc.

We are looking for people across all arts disciplines. You can be an emerging arts practitioner seeking advice and guidance or a more established individual with particular skills and knowledge to offer someone on the programme through becoming a Mentor or Advisor.

Why is the project based in London?

The project is funded by the London Development Agency. To be eligible you must live in a London borough. If you are unsure whether or note you would be eligible, please contact us before applying.

Do I have to be registered disabled?

No, Shape uses a broad definition of disability and if you define yourself as deaf or disabled you can apply.

Do I need to have any experience in teaching to apply to train as a mentor?

No, you just need to have experience of working in your area, which you are interested to share with others.

How do I decide which part of the programme to apply for?

Do I have to be unemployed to participate?
