‘The Shortlist’ exhibition showcases work by the artists short-listed for The Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary; a unique award which supports disabled artists by offering a three-month residency at a high profile gallery or cultural institution.

This year’s collaboration with the V&A and Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design at the Royal College of Art, brought an exciting new twist to our annual residency with its focus on inclusive design.

ARMB Shortlist 6
Carmen Papalia (2015 bursary recipient) – Papalia's work takes the form of participatory public projects which are concerned in establishing prolonged moments of radical accessibility in institutional and non-institutional settings.Following a hotly contested selection process, the shortlisted artists were:

Laila Cassim – Cassim is a trained graphic designer whose work explores the possibilities for visual communication design as a tool to empower socially marginalised groups through practice-based research and co-design projects.

Omeima Mudawi-Rowlings – Mudawi-Rowlings is a textile designer/artist specialising in print making, whose work represents a fusion of eastern and western influences.

Peter Matthews – Matthews’ direct, hands-on, experimental and performative practice is often created whilst travelling around the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean in a nomadic style of being, making work in the vast solitude of the ocean.
