Deaf Theatre Masterclasses

We had our Deaf Theatre Master classes in March 2007.
These masterclasses were essential to develop the skills and talents of budding deaf performers. Through projects like this, Shape is working with the Deaf Community to help promote and celebrate Deaf Culture.
We looked into news skills of comdey writing, performsance and directing. The master classes was led+ by Jenny Sealey the Artistic Director of Graeae Theatre Company and Jenny Lecoat who recently wrote for the BBC, Steve Webb, Director of YRoots Theatre Company and featuring guest tutor Steve Day, the comedian.
Workshops took place in March 2007. These were a follow up to Shape’s successful Deaf Theatre Academy which finished in 2005.
On the last day, they worked on the pieces that they developed during the sessions and performed these work-in-progress pieces at a successful showcase to an invited audiences.
We are hoping to develop this project and for latest news please email us at deafarts@shapearts.org.uk or click on the Deaf Arts page.
