Articulate UK - young disabled people and employment
A grant of €48,000 from the British Council will enable us to develop "Articulate UK", a 3-day conference for 15 young people with learning disabilities aged 16-25 and for experts, policy-makers and decision-makers in the field of youth-led training, employment-support & post education service delivery.
Through a programme of facilitated discussions, the young people will take the floor to talk directly to the agencies that can unwittingly reduce the young people's options.
The project sets up opportunities for agencies to listen to young people, and supports young people to express themselves. It encourages people to listen to each other and not make assumptions.
For education, employment and other service providers across the UK, this is an opportunity to talk directly and creatively to a group, to really involve users in service provision, and to receive free access guidance and support.
For young learning disabled people from London, Brighton and Bristol, this is an opportunity to open up pathways to training and employment services after you leave school. You'll be making forum theatre and expressing yourselves
