National Deaf Theatre Academy

The Deaf Theatre Academy is unique in the UK as the only theatre summer school for adults taught entirely in BSL. Having recently completed its third year, the academy has gone from strength to strength and is now accredited by the Open College Network.
Shape Deaf Theatre Academy
It trains students to develop acting, stage management and lighting skills. It covers BSL on Stage, Performance, Stage Management and Stage Lighting, and is suitable for Deaf people of all abilities with a minimum of BSL Level 2 or equivalent.

The course is accredited by the London Open College Network and can be used as a stepping stone to future qualifications.

In 2005 the Academy was a 12-day residential course at Jackson’s Lane, led by Deaf American playwright and poet Raymond Luczak.
