Creative Steps
Shape's Creative Steps will offer free professional development training to disabled people working in, or wanting to work in, the creative industries.
It also aims to address the barriers to employment faced by disabled people by training employers and employment service providers in Disability Equality and good access practice. The project is user-led, and the focus is on working in partnership to change mindsets and practices in a supportive way.
For cultural industries employers and employment or training agencies, this new project will be addressing the gaps in service provision, helping them meaningfully achieve their equalities targets, and helping them reduce the fears and unknowns many have when employing disabled people.
As well as the programme of live events, we will develop and offer comprehensive online resources and further opportunities for self-directed learning and development.
