James Lake and the Cambridge School - Workshop SampleShapes Inspiring Futures were delighted to introduce artist James Lake to Cambridge Heath School.

Specialising in sculpture using cardboard Lake bases his work on the themes of humanity, strength, and vulnerability. 

During one day, working with 30 young people with additional behavioural needs Lake created an impressive collaborative 5 ft. sculpture.

The sculpture, made by a mixed aged and ability learners through participatory learning assisted with learning new skills in an ambitious and fun way.

Throughout the day the students worked towards their arts award.

  • Ambitious project to build confidence and skills.
  • Students learn new skills.
  • Opportunity to feel a sense of achievement.
  • Creating opportunities to work in a team
  • More able learners to assist those who need more support with the intention of developing mentoring skills
  • Work towards a qualification.
