We are pleased to announce today the appointment of David Hevey as our new Chief Executive.

David, who currently works as Project Director of NDACA (the National Disability Arts Collection and Archive) - a Shape-led project telling the radical story of the Disability Arts movement, will begin as our new CEO from 3 April 2017, as we wave goodbye to Tony Heaton OBE, who is stepping down to pursue arts projects and consultancy work in the sector - click here to read his leaving announcement. David tells us that he is “delighted and honoured to take up the post”.

Tony will go on to become Chair of our Board of Trustees, taking over from our Pauline Tambling CBE, who leaves us after nine years of brilliant service. She writes, “Shape is a very important organisation; as departing Chair I can say that it is thriving thanks to Tony Heaton's excellent stewardship as CEO over the last nine years. I am delighted that Tony will remain part of Shape as chair with David Hevey as the new CEO. Together they share a commitment to promoting excellence in disability arts and promoting disabled artists.”

“Leading Shape for almost a decade now has been the most enjoyable and satisfying of roles and I know David will take on the responsibility with the enthusiasm and professionalism he has brought to NDACA,” Tony comments, “I look forward to working closely with him to continue developing Shape as a respected and pioneering disability-led arts organisation, both in the UK and internationally.”
