Striking the balance between creative practice, building your online profile and dealing with life can present serious challenges. The struggle is real.

In this career development workshop with art business specialist Susan J Mumford, the following areas will be addressed:

  • The key role that community plays in the professional lives of artists, including how it helps you to advance creatively and professionally;
  • The differing parts of your community - incorporating those in place that can be developed, and those that you’re yet to start;
  • Opportunities to make new contacts, including in-person events and online platforms;
  • Effectively following-up new contacts after meeting;
  • Following up contacts – new and established alike… when they don’t respond (ugh!);
  • Building your (visual / digital) contact database/s to help you connect and reconnect like a pro;
  • The ebb and flow of your offline and online presence, incorporating how to keep getting in front of people directly and indirectly alike;
  • How to keep to your personal promises to consistently grow and nurture your community;
  • Discovery of your voice to use in online communication (think: social media), which reflects your values and is authentic to the core (thereby making it easier to post frequently and consistently);
  • Variation in how you communicate based on differing platforms (also incorporating visual imagery vs. words) – and playing to your strengths; and
  • Evaluating what is and isn’t working in growing your profile and nurturing your community.

This workshop incorporates a Q&A, set to address your individual challenges in growing your profile and consistently nurturing your community, in order to thrive as an artist.
