Tate Exchange: Ways of Seeing Art This event took place in 2017. How do you ‘see’ art? How do we describe art to others? As part of the Tate Exchange programme, join us at Tate Modern for our Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary Shortlist showcase and a series of workshops led by blind and visually impaired artists to explore audio description of artwork. Audio Description (AD) is the verbal communication of visual information for blind and visually impaired people. Over four days, we investigate audio description and invite you to join us on level 5 of the new Tate Modern building in exploring how visual information is relevant to us all, lead by artist Zoe Partington. Think about art in a new light by dropping in to our showcase to explore the powerful artworks created by disabled artists shortlisted for our Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary, and try your hand at creating your own audio description of the works. Want to take AD further? Record audio descriptions of artworks throughout the rest of Tate (and beyond) using your mobile or tablet, and tweet or Instagram them using the hashtag #WaysOfSeeingArt to create a constantly-growing, crowdsourced, virtual AD exhibition - we'll be sharing many of them and uploading them to our site.
