Latest Shape collaboration: Exhibiting artist in Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary Shortlist 9 , Artist residence for 'Ilham' exhibition in Qatar supported by Shape. Artist Talk - Juan delGado at Shape Gallery, Westfield.

Artist Statement: Based in London, delGado works across a range of media including installation and photography. Since his graduation from Media Arts at the University of Westminster in 2002, he has produced an extensive body of work that explores themes of displacement, landscapes, disability and gender. It is the experiential rather than the visual which is consistently emphasised through his work. Through his practice, delGado examines issues and themes on-site, in the location where the "narrative, the content of the project is waiting to be unfolded". The underlying theme to his work is trauma, and specifically how this is experience through violence, abuse and exclusion. The intention in delGado's work is to actively engage the audience, challenging perceptions of what they are experiencing by presenting varying elements of the work in different media that inform each other; often visual and audio. delGado is also the creative producer of Qisetna:Talking Syria, an on-line platform initiated in 2013 to bring the voices of those internally displaced in their country, on the move crossing borders, to share their stories. delGado's work offers the public an insight into realities of those who are often under-represented in society. His work has been supported by The British Council, Spanish Ministry of Culture,  Artschools Palestine, Arts Council England, The Wellcome Trust amongst others. His recent work Altered Landscapes is currently on tour across the UK and Internationally.
