The nail was left behind in an exhibition space. As it was deeply embedded in the wall it had been painted over rather than removed. Lowen applied electrostatic flock to this small detail to draw attention and transform this very normal thing sticking out of the wall. A large iron nail that is encrusted with layers of white paint and flecks of orange rust. A soft velvet, blue / black flock has colonised the nail with a moss like growth.
