The Creative Steps Exhibition, Perceptions of Balance, at Lauderdale House

Following on from its success at Shape, Kentish Town and Shape In The City, Gracechurch St, the tour of Perceptions of Balance will be stopping at Lauderdale House from late January to early February.

Perceptions of Balance is an exhibition of nine artists using various media to illustrate or express their encounters of how they may or may not experience equilibrium. The call to submit artworks was given to openly explore the theme via any medium. A line or two from each artist's statement is listed below; giving an insight into the inspiration or purpose for each work, weaving in the psyche of their individual journey.

there is no order
only various states of disorder and chaos
living in a fractured timeline
keeping my eyes on the horizon is one way
to bring back a sense of balance and calm
a tablet does not cure abuse, isolation, or stigma
exploring issues of trauma, disability, displacement and territory
living in a society surrounded by violence
in a universe teetering between chaos and order
the fragility of life
my feelings of isolation and dislocation
resonances with my ever fluctuating journey of life
Learning to embrace difference can have a positive effect on life

The Creative Steps Curators Apolonia Lobo, Lynn Cox and Emma Wolfindale explore the theme Perceptions of Balance through the work of Creative Steps artists that is exciting and thought-provoking.
