Back to ARA Shortlist

Shape Arts and Pallant House Gallery are pleased to announce the four artists shortlisted for the 2018 Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary, Shape’s flagship annual art award.

Now in its tenth year, the Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary supports mid-career disabled artists, offering the successful recipient an award of £10,000 and an accompanying three-month residency with Pallant House Gallery, Chichester from 6 February to 29 April 2018.

The artists shortlisted for this prestigious award are:

  • Terence – Terence’s work explores class structure, consumer desire and aesthetic prejudice via strategies of restriction, hindrance and limitation.

  • Sarah – Across many art forms, Sarah’s practice looks at methods of processing and dealing with information, and the structure of the mind.

  • Catherine – Catherine makes abstract drawings and paintings centring on eccentricity, dreaming and enchantment.

  • Nicola – With a focus on cutting and fragmenting as a process, Nicola’s work discusses self-image through sculpture and installation.

From these four artists the successful recipient of the 2018 Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary will be chosen by a panel of art industry professionals, before being announced on 15 November 2017. All four artists will also go on to show work together as part of Shape Arts’ 2018 ARMB Shortlist exhibition.
