About

The Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary was established in 2007 by Shape in memory of sculptor Adam Reynolds to support midcareer disabled artists working in visual art.

The annual bursary, one of the most significant commissioning opportunities for disabled artists in the UK, offers mid career artists a three month residency at a high profile gallery.

The aim of the bursary is to provide artists with an opportunity to develop their practice without the pressure to deliver a particular outcome such as an exhibition.

The bursary offers space, time and financial support within a framework of constructive and creative critical dialogue.

The First Four exhibition features images of the works created by the first four recipients of the bursary (2008-2011) - the original works were exhibited at the host galleries.
Shape's Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary programme will continue to provide annual artist residencies, exhibition and professional development opportunities for disabled artists.
