Theme: My Life

5 February - 21 February
Guest Projects, Sunbury House

Shape Open 2016 explores the theme ‘My Life’ in the context of disability. Disabled and non-disabled artists were invited to submit work for Shape Arts’ fourth annual open exhibition that ignites debate and discussion on disability from a wide range of viewpoints.

Using a diverse set of mediums such as blood, machinery, audio and traditional oil paints to express their ideas, the artists drew on memory, nostalgia and processes of internal reflection to create their work. Responses are serious-minded, satirical and often ambiguous, requiring the viewer to consider the many aspects of disability and to challenge the way they perceive disability themselves.

Winning artist: Kate Murdoch
