In conjunction with 2022's Shape Open exhibition, In The Mirror, we will be taking over the British Museum in London for an evening of performance, provocation, and discussion around contemporary representation of disability.

In collaboration with the British Museum, Shards invites you to explore contemporary representation of disability through installations, performances and discussion that encourage interactive engagement through the artists' work. View the programme overview to find out more.

The event will feature workshops and performances from Charlie Fitz, Alexandrina Hemsley, Sop, Alec Finlay, and Andrea Spisto.

Recording will take place at this event. You will be able to opt-out of being on film on the night.

Accessibility

British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation and live captioning will be provided. All events on the night will be relaxed, seating and quiet areas will be provided also.

Can't make it?

If you are unable to attend the in-person event, don't worry as we will be documenting all parts in both real-time and as legacy material which will all be made available online through our website and social media channels. We also aim to make elements of the interactive workshops open to any audience members participating from home.

How to get there

Entry on the night will be from Great Russell Street (Main entrance) only. The Main entrance on Great Russell Street has 12 steps with a handrail. There are two lifts on either side of this staircase.

The closest TfL Underground stations are Holborn (Central and Piccadilly Lines), Tottenham Court Road (Elizabeth, Central, and Northern Lines), and Russell Street (Piccadilly Line). You can view TfL's full accessibility guides and information on their website. The event will end in advance of any final trains departing.
