Sally Booth was the recipient of the 2010 Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary.

Her residency took place at the Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool.

Working in drawing and painting, Booth explores transparency and obscurity in relation to her own vision, using panoramic formats, scrolls and transparent materials.

Often working outside, using unusual spaces as vantage points, Booth creates site specific installations and light boxes. Booth used the residency to develop work reflecting her experience of Liverpool, with the piece Bluecoat Studio Windows informed directly by the gallery’s architecture. Over the course of her residency Booth created a series of photographs tracking the changing light, shadows and reflections. As the days slowly lengthened, and glimpses of other work in progress appeared in the background, the series became a reflection of the passage of time.

The photographs were displayed in light boxes, with the illuminated images, reminiscent of a clock face, porthole windows or a bicycle wheel, also evocative of the aesthetic of church stained glass windows.
