McLean’s work focuses on representation of the black and disabled community, operating in a space between documentary and portraiture. Having spent his early years attending mainstream school Jamaica before moving to the UK, McLean is familiar with the many barriers disabled people face and attends to these struggles through his artistic practice, directly challenging commonplace representations of disability.
